Scientific Games has established a Scientific Games Hardship Relief Fund (the “Fund”) to help our team members during this pandemic.  The Fund is designed to support our employees around the world who have been furloughed and who experience hardships as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. This data protection notice (“Notice”) describes how we collect and use Personal Data provided by employees who make applications to the Fund.  All information is provided on a voluntary basis and by submitting your application you consent to Scientific Games using the information submitted to evaluate your application.

Scientific Games Corporation and its indirect and direct subsidiaries (collectively, “Scientific Games”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your Personal Data.  Scientific Games is a Controller under applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) (“GDPR”). This means that we are responsible for deciding how we handle and use Personal Data about you.  This Notice does not form part of any contract of employment or other contract to provide services. We may update this Notice at any time.

It is important that you read this Notice, together with any other data protection notices we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing Personal Data about you, so that you are aware of how and why we are using such information.  In addition to this Notice, employees should review and be familiar with Scientific Games’ current Employee Data Privacy Policy which is found on Gamepoint.

In this Notice, “Personal Data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (the “Data Subject”); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to physical, psychological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person and that is collected in connection with your application to the Fund.

Processing means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction, and Process and Processed shall be construed accordingly.

Sensitive Personal Data means information that reveals racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic data, biometric data, data concerning health and data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation.

The Personal Data that Scientific Games collects in connection with Your Application to the Fund

In connection with your application to the Fund, Scientific Games collects the following Personal Data about you: 

  • Your name;
  • Your employee identification number;
  • Your personal email address;
  • Your personal mobile number;
  • Your country of residence;
  • Your Scientific Games office location;
  • Confirmation that your salary is less than $50,000 USD (or its equivalent in local currency);
  • Your employment status (full-time, part-time);
  • Your furlough status and length of furlough;
  • Confirmation that you have sought the support of available governmental assistance measures available in your jurisdiction;
  • Information about your paid time off/paid vacation time usage;
  • Confirmation that you have experienced significant economic hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • A brief description of the purpose for which you will use the funds.

You are not required to, and should not, provide any Sensitive Personal Data in your application to the Fund.  In evaluating your application, Scientific Games may utilize information it holds in your personnel file/record to confirm the information in your application.

How Scientific Games uses your Personal Data

Scientific Games will use this Personal Data to evaluate an employee’s application to the Fund.  The legal basis that Scientific Games relies upon for this Processing, will fall into one of the following categories:

  • Your consent for Scientific Games to Process your Personal Data in order to evaluate your application to the Fund;
  • Where the Processing is necessary to fulfil the legitimate interests of Scientific Games, including evaluating your application to the Fund; and
  • Where the Processing is necessary to enable Scientific Games to meet its legal obligations (including making a payment to you from the Fund if you are chosen to be a Fund recipient).

Scientific Games may use your Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • Evaluating your application to the Fund; and
  • Processing any payment to you from the Fund if you are chosen to be a Fund recipient.

We will not Process your Personal Data for any other purposes incompatible with the purposes mentioned above without first providing notice to you.

With whom Scientific Games will share your Personal Data

Scientific Games will not sell your Personal Data to third parties.

Scientific Games may sometimes share your information with its trusted service providers, and other third parties who perform services and functions on Scientific Games’ behalf to support its interactions with you, including, for example, payroll, insurance providers, pension providers, as well as government agencies in order to fulfil legal requirements.

Scientific Games may also have to disclose your Personal Data in order to comply with a legal obligation imposed on it.

Scientific Games may also share your Personal Data with its legal, audit and financial advisers for the purposes of obtaining advice and the protection of its legal rights.

Where Scientific Games stores your Personal Data and how it secures your Personal Data

For EEA-based employees, your Personal Data may be stored and processed outside of the EEA, including in the United States.  Where this is the case, Scientific Games will have adequate safeguards in place to ensure the security of your Personal Data.  You may obtain a copy of the safeguards in place by contacting your local Human Resources representative.

To safeguard your Personal Data, Scientific Games maintains appropriate physical, electronic and procedural safeguards.  However, please note that transmission of information via the internet and remote data storage are not completely secure.  Although Scientific Games will do its best to protect your Personal Data, it cannot guarantee the security of any such Personal Data transmitted via the internet.

How long will Scientific Games keep your Personal Data?

Scientific Games will generally retain your Personal Data for between two (2) and ten (10) years (depending on the nature of the information) following termination of your employment with Scientific Games.  After that time, Scientific Games will delete your Personal Data from its systems.

Your rights-EU and UK based employees

Employees in the EU and UK have a number of rights under applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR and similar regulations.  You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the Personal Data Scientific Games holds about you;
  • Rectify inaccuracies in, or make complete, the Personal Data Scientific Games holds about you;
  • Have the Personal Data Scientific Games holds about you erased in certain circumstances;
  • Restrict the Processing of your Personal Data in certain circumstances;
  • Object to the processing of your Personal Data in certain circumstances;
  • Transfer the Personal Data Scientific Games holds about you to another entity in certain circumstances; and
  • Withdraw any consent you have provided.
