Network Systems Administrator: Defines, designs and implements network communications and solution improvements. Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manages the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinates terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirement. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. Note: May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions.

Job Duties/Key Accountabilities

  • Assist the Senior Manager with support network related hardware and software as required.

  • Administer network equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.

  • Perform network system backups per documented methods and procedures. 

  • Automate network monitoring to provide a proactive approach to mitigate network issues.

  • Manage and monitor all installed network systems and infrastructure to maintain the highest possible operable readiness.

  • Document standard operating procedures, diagrams, and training materials.

  • Interact with internal and external customers using excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Provide 24/7 on call support on a rotational basis.

  • 5% travel across the US as well as occasional international travel

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or 2 to 4 years of experience in network engineering or related field.

  • Basic knowledge of networking protocols including but not limited to IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, IMAP, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, ARP, BGP, FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, IP, OSPF, SMTP, PPP and SSH.

  • Basic knowledge of spanning-tree, VTP, VPC/Port Channels and Citrix load balancing.

  • Basic knowledge of WAN protocols and circuits to include MPLS (Multi-VRF), Satellite, Cellular, Ethernet, DSL, FiOS

  • Basic knowledge implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting VPN Technologies such as IPsec, DMVPN, and site to site VPN solutions.

  • Basic experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG or Managed Engine Operations Manager.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are required and must include exceptional written and oral communications skills.

  • Panorama and Palo Alto Firewall

  • Basic Understanding of Cloud Platforms, eq. AWS

  • Advance Knowledge of troubleshooting and supporting various VPN issues.

Qualifications/Skills Desired

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA)

  • Intermediate knowledge of programming languages such as Python.

  • Ability to analyze and troubleshooting packet captures using Wireshark.

  • Maintain Documentation using Visio, Draio.io, eq.

  • Knowledge of trouble ticketing systems and methodologies.
